The team has not only grown in numbers, but in stature and ability as well. From finishing 3rd bottom last season to currently placed 3rd top this season, the girls have become more physical in there approach to games, but without compromising the passing ability and general all round footballing ethos the team has. The overall improvement has made the team unrecognisable this year with the pick of games being our 6 - 6 draw with Royston and an impressive display against Histon as well winning 5 - 2 after being 2 nil down in the opening 15 minutes. Almost half the team play up year, but the girls are all very close, and not only work hard, they all have a fun time as well.
We have a great depth in our squad and this shows in games when subs are made, that in many respects the team is not weakened at all. We have a great turnout at training and our fans are certainly one of the noisiest, but most supportive of the girls, team and club as a whole.
The squad compromises of players from a wide range of areas, from Ware to Stevenage, from Bishops Stortford to Standon and Buntingford, as well as some of the local villages.
We are taking a team to a tournament in Holland this April along with a team of Under 14's as well, and the girls cannot wait to get out there.
The Under 13's girls team have certainly help put girls football on the map locally and on the basis of our success are looking to forward to even more teams next season. |
